Overview

As a Product Owner, you will be the key liaison between customers, end users, and the development team. Your primary responsibility is to ensure that the product fulfills user needs while aligning with the overarching product strategy. You will be the main point of contact for customers, tasked with analyzing their business processes, understanding their requirements, and translating these into specific product features. You'll break down these features into user stories, ensuring the product delivers maximum value to users.

This role requires you to gain in-depth knowledge of Brightstar Lottery’s Connected Play portfolio, which consists of applications designed to digitalize the player experience at retail locations. Connected Play aims to streamline and enhance player interactions with the Lottery, making them more convenient and engaging. Additionally, it equips our customers with robust data insights that help understand player behavior at retail.

You'll be instrumental in product delivery, taking charge of customer business needs analyses, handling product requirements, documenting features, and developing user stories. You'll work closely with product managers and engineering teams to ensure the final product meets customer needs and aligns with Brightstar Lottery’s business goals.

Responsibilities

As a Product Owner you will: 

  • Lead Customer Engagements: Conduct discussions and workshops with customers to understand their needs, translating these insights into actionable product requirements. Organize product demonstrations to showcase solutions.
  • Manage Customer Requirements: Develop detailed user stories, prioritize based on lottery customer feedback, market trends, and business value.
  • Coordinate Across Product Lifecycle: Work closely with product engineering leaders to support day-to-day engineering efforts and ensure seamless product implementation. Assists Quality Assurance team with testing direction in accordance with acceptance criteria and product vision. Coordinate with collaborators to address any challenges or changes needed during delivery.
  • Develop Artifacts: Create business and functional product documentation, user guides, and customer-facing release toolkits.
  • Enhance Customer Support: Provide continuous guidance and assistance to customers, fostering product engagement and enhancing its usage.
  • Understand and Shape Product Vision: Collaborate with the Product Manager to understand and influence the vision for the Connected Play products, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.

Qualifications

  • Experience: You have 4+ years in business analysis, product ownership, or equivalent. This experience is crucial for understanding user needs, transforming them into product features, and effectively leading product development processes.
  • Technical Expertise: Familiarity with mobile apps and web-based products is crucial, given the digital nature of modern solutions. Proficiency with tools like Jira, Confluence, Polarion-X, or similar is important for managing product backlogs and enabling seamless collaboration with development teams.
  • Transaction Processing Knowledge: A solid understanding of transaction processing systems, such as lottery transaction engines or FinTech solutions, is highly beneficial due to the complexity involved in these products.
  • Strong verbal and written communication is vital for confidently sharing insights with collaborators. Facilitate communication across different organizational levels.
  • Management Abilities: Proven ability to prioritize and lead multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced, dynamic environment is vital for success in this role.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal capabilities are needed to influence and collaborate across all organizational levels, fostering strong collaborator relationships.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time and work across multiple time zones is required, reflecting the role's international scope and engagement with diverse collaborators.
  • Work Schedule: The role follows a hybrid work schedule, with three days in the office per week (Tuesday to Thursday). This setup supports both in-person collaboration and flexible working conditions.
