Position Summary: The Community Engagement Coordinator is a vital member of the backbone agency, responsible for stakeholder and resident engagement and participation, community building, identifying assets and needs, and assessing community impact through data collection, supporting the goals of the South Providence Health Equity Zone (SPHEZ). The Community Engagement Coordinator is primarily responsible for relationship building with existing SPHEZ partners, recruitment of new organizations, individuals, and other stakeholders, disseminating information and collecting data, scheduling and facilitating SPHEZ meetings, and attending RIDOH and other meetings as necessary, as outlined in the project.  Works in collaboration with the Director of Equity and Place-Based Initiatives to ensure progress towards identified SPHEZ goals, initiatives, and activities are met.

Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred, High School Diploma or Equivalent required. 
  • Ability to obtain Certified Community Health Worker certification, or ability to be certified within first 12 months of employment.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Critical thinking skills, creativity and flexibility in meeting changing priorities and demands; attention to detail; identifying and resolving obstacles to improvement/goals.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with the 02905 area and/or goals of the SPHEZ initiative.
  • Ability to provide culturally competent services.
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships internally and externally with community partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize self and others.
  • Ability to work independently and to take initiative; to prioritize and to proceed logically. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality. 
  • Bilingual/ASL skills are compensated by an additional 6%, above base pay.
  • Multilingual skills are compensated by an additional 8%, above base pay.

Physical Requirements: This position requires:

  • Travel within the community, to and from agency site locations, which could include using walkways, stairs and/or elevators.
  • Ability to work a nontraditional work schedule to include some nights and weekends.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Adhere to FSRI professional dress code policy.
  • Ability to manage various software platforms and databases.
